What to Expect

Learn to surf at beautiful Kalapaki Beach with Kauai Beach Boys, teaching at the same location since 1983. Our beginner-friendly lessons combine beach instruction with guided water time, helping students quickly learn the fundamentals of surfing in a safe and supportive environment.

Kalapaki Bay's gentle waves and protected waters make it one of the best places on Kauai to learn. Small class sizes, quality equipment, and experienced local instructors provide personalized coaching focused on safety, confidence, and fun. Whether it's your first time on a surfboard or you're looking to improve your skills, we'll help you catch waves and experience the thrill of surfing in Hawaii.

Restrictions

For the safety and enjoyment of all participants, group surf lessons are available only to guests who:

  • Are 10 years of age or older
  • Are comfortable swimming in water over their head
  • Can carry their own surfboard to and from the beach
  • Can paddle independently for approximately 90 minutes
  • Understand spoken English and can follow verbal instructions
  • Are in good physical and mental health

Group lessons are not suitable for guests who:

  • Require one-on-one assistance in the water
  • Have physical, cognitive, or medical conditions that may affect their ability to safely participate in a group lesson
  • Are unable to swim independently

Guests requiring additional assistance may be better suited for a Private or Semi-Private Surf Lesson. Please contact us before booking so we can recommend the best option.

For safety reasons, Kauai Beach Boys reserves the right to deny participation or modify lesson arrangements if a guest does not meet the minimum requirements for the activity.
