Midtown: the 20th Century Transformation of Atlanta
18+ • 1.5 Hours • Up to 18 People
What to Expect
The story of Midtown is the history of Atlanta. We'll see a spectacular historic hotel, grand homes and what urban life looked like in the early 20th century. The city's 20th century growth reflected the way lives were changing as Atlantans responded to wars, new technology and social change. We will consider the ways Civil Rights activism impacted the area and how Margaret Mitchell shaped the way we remember the history of the South.
Please note: We will start near the North Avenue Marta Station and end near the 10th Street Marta station. You will have your choice of taking a train back to our starting point, walking or taking an uber/lyft. The distance to return is less than a mile.
