Open Water Diver Course
What to Expect
Open water is the entry-level certification to become a scuba diver. Open water course certifies you to dive up to 60 feet as an autonomous diver. Course Description
The Open Water course includes the following components:
- E-learning course (PADI or NAUI)
- Classroom training
- Confined water (pool) training session
- Four open water (ocean) dives at San Carlos Beach

Typical Schedule
Because we specialize in small groups and private courses, this schedule is fully customizable based on your needs and availability.
- E-Learning is completed at your own pace prior to the pool session
- Day 1: classroom and pool session (typically 6-8 hours)
- Day 2: open water dives 1 & 2 (typically 5 hours)
- Day 3: open water dives 3 & 4 (typically 5 hours)
Our Pricing
Our pricing reflects the cost for small groups and private instruction. We offer discounts for groups between 2-6 students so you can invite your family and friends to get certified with you.
When comparing our cost to other scuba schools, consider their private course costs and the cost of rentals or required gear purchases for a more accurate comparison. We are fully transparent in our pricing - there are no hidden fees or additional costs the day of your course.
Larger groups of 4+ divers should call to book to receive the best rate.

Cancellation Policy
E-Learning purchases are final and cannot be refunded. We offer full refunds for bookings cancelled more than 72 hours in advance (excluding the E-Learning). We offer a 50% refund for bookings cancelled between 72-24 hours in advance. We do not offer refunds for bookings cancelled less than 24 hours before the course. In the event of unsafe diving conditions, we will offer you a rescheduled dive or credit with Central Coast Scuba.
