This is a motorized specific Rec level 1 avalanche course lead by A3 certified instructor Eric Knoff who owns Six Point Avalanche Education.

  • Course Instruction begins:
    February 14th, in the evening at 5 pm. If the Friday evening instruction does not work for you because it is Valentine's Day. Please reach out for other arrangements, at [email protected]
  • Field instruction begins:
    February 15th, 9am-6pm the first day
    February 16th, 9am-4pm the second day

About

MOTORIZED LEVEL 1 COURSE:
The course is essential for developing the skills necessary to travel safely and confidently in avalanche terrain. It is a great stepping stone to pursing more advanced avalanche safety training as well. Eric Knoff tailors this course towards snowmobilers/ snowbikers. The 3 day course (24 instruction hours) focuses on the six points of avalanche education: Avalanche terrain, mountain snowpack/weather, avalanche forecast and problems, companion rescue, and decision making. The instructional setting is both in the classroom and in field sessions. Beartooth Rides and Guides and Eric Knoff understand the importance of hands on learning and spend 60-70% of the course on the snow in the field. This Level 1 course follows the guidelines set by the American Avalanche Association (A3), Eric Knoff, Jake Skeen, and other instructors provide the highest quality of instruction. After completion, you still receive a certificate that lists your name, dates of course, and instructor’s name.

Lodging is not included in the base price, but can be added on. You will need to stay in Crandall the nights of February 7th, and 8th for the avalanche course. If you do not have somewhere to stay these nights, then book the lodging as an add on service. The lodging option through Beartooth Rides and Guides on February 9th is optional but recommended if you plan to stay and ride on Monday 10th.
