What to Expect

Climb aboard the Pumpkin Special for a scenic 55-minute round-trip on restored early-1900s coach cars through a valley between the Baraboo Hills. An authentically-attired conductor leads the excursion from a historic 1894 depot to Quartzite Lake, where locally grown pumpkins are available for pickup. Explore nearly 40 historic train cars and locomotives in the museum’s display buildings and coach sheds, and pick up a self-guided tour pamphlet at the ticket window to learn about the collection and restorations.
