What to Expect
Whether it's a cool spring morning, lazy summer day or a colorful fall afternoon this trip offers something for everyone. This is our most popular trip and you will navigate the biggest rapids the New River has to offer such as Surprise, Keeney Brothers, Double Z and Greyhound Bus Stopper. These Class III - V rapids are separated by calm pools offering plenty of time to relax, swim or just enjoy the beautiful scenery. Other attractions along the way include several ghost towns, jump rocks, deli-style lunch and the famous New River Gorge Bridge. The trip typically offers 4-7 hours of "on river" time depending on the water conditions. No experience is required for this section however, we have a minimum age guideline of 11 yrs.old, please request a senior guide should you have any concerns.
Includes
Lunch is provided for full-day trips. Make sure to bring sunscreen, swimwear, sandals or river shoes that have a heel strap. You may also want to bring a change of clothes to put on once the trip is over at base camp.
Restrictions
Should you have any special needs, mobility restrictions, health issues or other related concerns it is best to discuss this with your physician to see if this is recommended. Rafting the Lower New River is a participation sport meaning you will need to be paddling during this trip it is a cardio and physical work out.
