Intermediate Keelboat Sailing
8 hours | Ages 16 and up
What to Expect
Our Intermediate Keelboat class is intended for students who already have a grasp of the basics and are ready for more. This course is designed to hone your existing skills while pushing you to a higher level of understanding and refined boat handling. By the end of this course, students should feel comfortable skippering independently and should have a complete understanding of rigging and sailing the boat. We will dive deeper into the various roles and responsibilities of the crew, explore the balance of forces on the boat and how to make fine tune adjustments of the sails and the rig. This should deliver students to a point where they feel comfortable taking inexperienced friends and family for a sail! The next step is to move towards racing and learning to fly a spinnaker!
Everyone learns at their own pace; if at the end of the class you feel that you still need more instruction, consider scheduling a private lesson to build confidence and prepare you to pass the Skills Test.
CBC is an accredited US Sailing Center; this class is taught by certified instructors to US Sailing standards.
Next Step: Keelboat Spinnaker Workshop or if you’re ready, take the Skills Test and start sailing independently!
We do not want cost to be a barrier from participation, our scholarship program can be found here.
