What to Expect
2026 Homeschool Days at the Military Aviation Museum
Join us for another exciting year of hands-on learning at the Military Aviation Museum! Our Homeschool Days offer students ages 7- 15 the chance to dive into the world of aviation, history, and STEM through interactive lessons and activities. Each monthly topic is divided into three age groups for an enhanced learning experience: ages 7-9, ages 10-12, ages 13-15. Each session runs for 4 hours, including a 30-minute lunch break, with engaging, age-appropriate activities designed to make learning fun and meaningful.

Time: 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM (including 30-minute lunch break)
Cost: $26.50 (family membership) $31.80 (no membership)

September: Frontline Heroes- Comic Books of World War II
Revisit a time where fiction and reality met head-on while brave men and women fought the good fight in the battlefields of World War II. Students will discover how comic book heroes helped boost morale among soldiers, served as wartime propaganda, and reflected people's thoughts on the war back home.
Ages 7-9: September 8, 2026

Highlights:
✔Create your own WWII era comic character and origin story
✔ Design a comic book cover based on actual events from WWII
✔Decode the meaning behind wartime propaganda and how it encouraged citizens to contribute to the war effort
October: Flight Operations of World War II
Jump in the pilot seat and experience World War II as it was seen in the eyes of the pilots. Students will learn about the skills and maneuvers both Army and Navy pilots used in combat, the instruments used in flight that kept pilots airborne, and how pilots acted together to maintain the advantage over their opponents.

Highlights:
✔ Learn about pilot equipment and instruments close up and in-person
✔ Create and label your own WWII fighter
✔ Learn about the pilot's flight processes, from takeoff to landing
November: Flight Without Sight
Keep an eye on your instruments as you learn how pilots navigated the sky without actually seeing what was out there! Students will learn about methods of detecting aircraft and objects such as radar, how pilots could rely on their instruments to keep flying even when they couldn't see out of their cockpits, and how to plot out flight plans and navigate them in the air.

Ages 13-15: November 17, 2026
Highlights:
✔ Take a deep dive into instrument-based flight with simulated training
✔ Learn how to read and draw out flight plans on maps for navigation
✔ Uncover the history of radar and simulate its uses during the war

Restrictions
• Participants must be between 7 and 9 years old, between 10 and 12 years old, or between 13-15 years old depending on session.
• All participants must be accompanied by an adult during check-in and pick-up.
• No real flights will be taken during this program. This is a ground-based experience only.

Cancellation Policy for Homeschool Days
nWe understand that sometimes plans change, and we want to ensure that all of our homeschool families have the best possible experience. Please read our cancellation policy below:
nCancellation by Parent/Guardian:
nMore than 7 days before the event: Cancellations made more than 7 days before the scheduled Homeschool Day will receive a full refund.
nLess than 7 days before the event: Cancellations made within 7 days of the scheduled event are non-refundable. However, you may transfer your registration to another date if available. Please contact us as soon as possible to arrange a transfer.
Cancellation by the Military Aviation Museum:
nIf we need to cancel an event due to unforeseen circumstances (e.g., severe weather, emergency closure, etc.), we will notify you as soon as possible and offer the option to reschedule your session or receive a full refund.
No-Shows:
nIf your child is unable to attend and you do not inform us ahead of time, the registration fee is non-refundable, and no alternative arrangements can be made.
Transfer Requests:
nIf you need to transfer your child to a different Homeschool Day session, please contact us at least 2 days prior to the original event to check availability and arrange the transfer.
