What to Expect

This short but exciting 6-mile river trip follows a lively section of the James River with good current and numerous Class I and II rapids. Guests check in at the Buchanan riverfront shop for orientation before launching downstream toward Breeden Bottom/Arcadia Campground beneath the Arcadia bridge. The outing emphasizes active paddling and scenery, and requires a return shuttle; it is slightly more challenging than the gentler Springwood float. Safety orientation and equipment are provided to prepare paddlers for the river conditions. THIS RIVER TRIP IS UNGUIDED.
