What to Expect
A true river experience, paddle for 5 days / 4 nights over 55 miles of the Upper James River Water Trail. This trip has it all, great rapids, scenery, cool campsites, impressive mountain views, good fishing, and great swim spots.
Customers can resupply at the town of Buchanan on day 3 of the trip. Many Boy Scout groups do this trip as a 50-miler qualifying trip, combined with a river clean-up service project.
Prior Canoe/Kayak Class I-II+ experience recommended.
Trip must not end on a Saturday or a Sunday.

Restrictions
This trip is UNGUIDED, customers must be able to paddle and navigate up to class II rapids, and be able to recover a boat on their own without aid of the outfitter.
Participants must be able to paddle and camp in wilderness for 2 days
Not recommended for anyone over 350 lbs.
You must have at least two (2) people in your party to book a trip. Solo paddlers are NOT permitted.
