Special Event - River Clean Up

Help us keep the Upper Jackson River clean and free of trash and litter.

About

Join us for our annual river clean up event. Our staff will work with volunteers to cover a 6 or 10-mile stretch of the Jackson River. We hope to be able to have volunteers break up into small groups and paddle different sections of the river looking to collect trash along the way.

We will meet at Alleghany Outdoors 1903 Dressler Drive Covington VA 24426 at 10am .
We will focus on the section from Ft. Young to AET. If we have enough of a turnout, we can also go from AET to Teddy Dressler (Whitey's)
We will drive from our location to AET park and leave vehicles there. Then load in the shuttle bus and drive back up to Fort Young.
If we have enough participation, then we will us a second vehicle to pick up participants at Teddy Dressler and go back up to AET.

Groups are encouraged to register together. Groups must be able to paddle the river unaccompanied. We will provide trash bags and gloves to all participants. Trash can be left at each river access point for our crew to collect that afternoon and properly disposed of.
