What to Expect

This is the longest paddle offered on the upper Jackson River in Alleghany County, featuring crystal-clear water, lively current and many class I and II rapids that make the route both scenic and exciting while remaining suitable for beginners. The trip launches at the National Forest Smith Bridge river access and finishes at the Intervale Park ramp. Typical start times are 9:00, 10:30, and 11:30 daily, with most excursions taking several hours to complete.
