What to Expect
Our via ferrata offers the incredible opportunity to traverse sandstone cliffs high above a gorgeous slot canyon. Via Ferrata is a mountain route equipped with fixed protection like metal runged ladders, cables, and bridges, anchored right to the cliffs themselves. Although originally used in Austria and Germany for mountain travel, they were built in Italy during World War I to aid the movement of Italian alpine soldiers and their equipment through the Dolomites. Today, Via Ferrata routes are unique recreational experiences allowing access to high elevation terrain.
Begin your instruction on a 75' practice wall where you will learn to operate your own safety equipment. From there, hike through the ponderosa pine forest to the rim of Eye of the Needle™ slot canyon. Experience the thrill of being lowered to our initial starting platform before beginning your climb along the cliff band and back up to the rim.
You're a great fit for this trip if you:
- Have a reasonable level of physical fitness
- Are not afraid of heights or exposure
- Can be a contributing and conscientious participant in managing your own safety
- Can rapidly learn technical skills
- Are between 88 lbs and 260 lbs
- Are a minimum of 5' tall
All participants will be required to pass an assessment on the practice wall prior to engaging in the main wall.

Cancellation Policy
Full payment is due at the time of booking. Cancellations more than 3 days in advance will receive a full refund. Cancellations within 72 hours of trip start time are non-refundable. Weather conditions do not permit clients to cancel trips. If your Zion Adventures® guide determines conditions make the event unsafe, we will reschedule or make every effort to provide a comparable experience; if not possible, all purchases will be refunded in full.
