Hike the Caledonia Ghut
Starting at $50 | 3-4 Hours | Hike Through Dense Tropical Forest!
What to Expect
-
This is a beautiful hike, and in the rainy season it is the best way to experience St. Croix's fresh water ecosystems. Your guide will point out various types of plant life, insects and creatures, and will provide information on the geology and rich history of the area.
-
When the Ghut is flowing well, hikers can take a relaxing dip in the calming wade pools along the trail. You may be able to find and learn about some of St. Croix's fresh water marine life in these pools.
-
This hike’s difficulty is calculated as “moderately strenuous" and includes hiking through water and over rocks that may be slippery with moss. The trail takes about 90 minutes each way, and the terrain is rocky with steep climbs.
-
You will want to have sun protection, a hiking shoe that can get wet, bathing suit or comfortable clothes that can get wet, and a reusable water bottle.
-
The Caledonia Ghut Hike meets at Rhythms at Rainbow Beach (on the west side just north of Fredriksted). Meeting time is 8:30am and we return to the parking lot between noon and 12:30.
