About
Open to school district and open-enrollment charter school employees who hold a current Texas License to Carry and are authorized by their employer to attend. This is not public firearms instruction.
This is the Texas school safety certification course under Government Code §411.1901 — the 15–20 hours of instruction behind every Guardian-style armed-staff program in the state. It trains and evaluates school employees to carry a defensive handgun on campus in response to an active attack, including the judgment side of it: when to move, when to communicate, and when not to engage.
The course is taught by instructors holding the Texas DPS school safety instructor certification. (DPS certifies individual instructors, not companies.) Across the two days we place participants into live scenario work and testing, using UTM (Ultimate Training Munitions) non-lethal Man Marker ammunition in converted Glock 19s, so they have to defend a school environment against a range of aggressors and situations.
Completion is submitted to DPS, which records it as a school safety endorsement on the participant's Texas License to Carry. The endorsement rides on the LTC — if the license lapses, even briefly, the endorsement drops and the course has to be retaken. The endorsement by itself does not authorize campus carry; that authority comes from the school board's written authorization under Penal Code §46.03(a)(1)(A).
Districts scheduling a private session for their own staff can request a proposal rather than booking a seat here.
