Black Austin Tour Heritage Bus Tour Experience

Join us for a weekend of commemorative history, community, and family fun at the barbershop! A two-day affair featuring a half-day bus tour, documentary premiere, new art, and educational resources.
The history that unfolded on the 12th block of Chicon went on to inspire and nurture generations of talent and success. Emerging from Austin’s historic Freedom colonies, the first Black business owners here built the foundations of East Austin

The half-day bus tour journey takes you back to the start of Ideal Barbershop- in the original St. John’s colony (Bastrop, Texas). Enjoy rich history, lunch, and memories you won’t forget. Tickets available at: Blackaustintours.com/events

Following the Bus tour, join us at Ideal Barbershop for:
- Music and Activation from Where y’all At Though?!
- Heritage Lounge and Digital History Installation by E4 Youth
- History Presentation and Panel Discussion with Sixth Square and
Souls of Fort Worth
- NEW Art Installation by Stephen Hayes
- Social and Community Engagement by the Austin African American Cultural and Heritage Facility
