About
Join us for a Guided Bird Walk in one of our favorite birding hotspots! Although our focus will be on identifying any bird species we encounter, we will also share interesting tidbits about other wildlife and plants along the trails as well. All walks are done at a leisurely pace, with breaks along the way for longer hikes.
Limit 12 participants per walk. Younger children interested in birding may join us. No dogs, please!
Schedule
Saturday, March 28, 2026 (8am-11am) Cannan Bend, Freeport, TX
Join us for our first spring bird walk! The Cannan Bend Unit of Brazoria NWR features a short looping trail through beautiful Columbia Bottomlands habitat near a small freshwater lake. Potential sightings include White-eyed Vireo, Blue-headed Vireo, Black-and-White Warbler, Hooded Warbler, Anhinga, Neotropic Cormorant, Osprey, White-tailed Kite, Northern Harrier, and a wide variety of herons, egrets, waterfowl, and other water birds.
We generally will not cancel due to rain unless it is expected to be heavy or if the location is too wet to allow event to continue. If we do decide to cancel, we will notify registrants the day prior to the event if at all possible.
Contact us directly to inquire about private bird walks and accessible birding events.
