ABOUT
Whether you have always been fascinated by honey bees, or you want to become a successful beekeeper, this 2hr theory-only introduction class will teach you the basics of the wonderful world of honey bees.
This "Introduction to Beekeeping" is the Level 101 of our popular three-part, certificate based, "BECOMING A NATURAL BEEKEEPER SERIES" (BNB Series), and a prerequisite to our 202 Class (this curriculum focuses on Natural Beekeeping and is carefully crafted to ensure our students understand Natural Beekeeping principles in a holistic manner not usually discussed in conventional beekeeping classes - so all parts of the Series work together).
This 101 course is fast paced and shock full of content. It will introduce in a holistic manner the following concepts and basics of:
- Pollination
- Bee Castes and Biology
- The Superorganism
- Beekeeping philosophies & goals
- Hive types and their main pros and cons for our area
- Protective clothing needs
- The beekeeper’s must have tools
- The Sustainable Apiary & Water Source Setup
- How and where to get your first bees
- Using beekeeping as a qualifying activity to obtain an "Ag Exemption" in Texas
- Recommended Books & Resources
A lot of valuable information will be covered in a short amount of time, so take notes or record audio clips, and we will send you a PDF summary of what we'll discuss to refer back to.

Attend all 3 levels in the BNB series and obtain a Natural Beekeeper CERTIFICATE from the Bee Mindful Bee School, signed by Master Beekeepers Les Crowder and Nathalie B.
Keep in mind that Level 2 (NATURAL BEEKEEPING 202) will take place 30mns later that same day, so if you decide to attend it you may register for it on the spot as walk-ins are welcome, space permitting (check with us first to make sure it is still on and there is space by texting us at 512-699-0605).
More dates are available in the future should you prefer to come back at a later date for the 202.
101 and 202 classes are currently scheduled on the 3rd Saturday of the month.

Cancellation Policy
We understand that life happens, and that you might not be able to attend a class or workshop you have registered for.
In very rare occasions, we might have to cancel/postpone due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances, or because class thresholds have not been met.
While we are unable to refund booked programs, we strive to accommodate you.
Therefore, it is our pleasure to inform you that Bee Mindful class and workshop seats purchased may always:
- Be transferred to anyone you want.
- Be moved to a different date.
- Be applied to a different class or workshop of equal or higher value.
Just let us know which option you prefer and we will work with you.
