At the end of the course, you will be able to skipper a sloop-rigged, auxiliary powered keelboat of approximately 20 to 27 feet in length by day in light to moderate winds (up to 15 knots) and sea conditions. Knowledge of basic sailing terminology, parts and functions, helm commands, basic sail trim, points of sail, buoyage, seamanship and safety including basic navigation rules to avoid collisions and hazards. Auxiliary power operation is not required.
Our teaching platform for the introductory ASA 101 Sailing Made Easy course is the Catalina 22 Sport. The Catalina 22 Sport is one of the most popular sailboats ever produced. The 22 Sport is a very stable, comfortable, easy-to-sail keelboat. We currently have two new Catalina 22 Sports, dedicated to teaching ASA 101.
