Quick Local Tip: Wear clothes and shoes you don't mind getting wet, since your feet will get wet getting in and out of the kayak; bring a reusable water bottle to fill at the cold water dispenser.

What to Expect

The experience begins at River Island Adventures, where you'll check in at the front desk, sign any waivers, and receive a team-colored SURVIVOR buff to wear throughout. For the first two hours, teams of two compete in the SURVIVOR Games out in the field, with winning teams earning advantages to use later on the island.

From there, your Adventure Host leads everyone by kayak down to a remote 48-acre private island on the Waccamaw River. Once the clock starts, you'll work through challenges that test endurance, problem-solving, and teamwork—from the Stair Puzzle and Water Race to Walk the Line, Knock'em Down, Crack the Code, and more, unlocking clues to release your kayaks.

The final challenge is the Paddle Battle, a half-mile race back up the river to the Outpost. Plan for about four hours of continuous activity in all types of weather, and note that a minimum of four players (two teams of two) is needed to run this challenge.
