What to Expect
Makai Day will begin Sunday, August 26th at 8:30am with traditional protocol at Ku'ilioloa Heiau with mo'olelo of Nene'u by Glen Kila to follow. An ocean safety and awareness presented by Na Kama Kai founder Duane DeSoto will then kick off the day's ocean clinic anc cultural land activities. Ocean activity stations include canoe paddling, stand up paddle boarding, ocean safety rescue techniques, canoe sailing, ocean relay and free swim. Land activity include ku'i kalo, lauhala weaving, traditional surfboard shaping, 'upena, Makahiki games, keiki coloring station, information booths from Malama Learning Center, Polynesian Voyaging Society, NOAA, E Ala, and Waianae Coast Comprehensive Health Center. Live entertainment and free lunch will be provided. Registration is required to participate in any of these activities. please answer the following to confirm your registration for this event:
