What to Expect
The Open Water Scuba Exam is the final step in becoming a certified scuba diver. During this evaluation, you’ll demonstrate the knowledge and in-water skills you’ve learned throughout your training under the supervision of a certified instructor.
The exam is designed to confirm that you can dive safely, comfortably, and confidently in an open water environment. There’s no rush—your instructor is there to guide you, provide feedback, and ensure you’re ready for independent diving.
What the Exam Includes
Knowledge Review: A brief review of dive theory, safety procedures, and key concepts from your course materials.
Open Water Skill Evaluation
Demonstration of essential scuba skills such as mask clearing, regulator recovery, buoyancy control, and emergency procedures.
Open Water Dives
A series of instructor-led dives where you’ll apply your skills in real-world conditions.
