ASA 105: Coastal Navigation certification

Do you think that with your phone app or the onboard electronics, you don’t need this course? You’ll learn to read and interpret nautical charts, understand tides and currents, and use essential tools like parallel rulers, dividers, and the U.S. Coast Guard Navigation Rules. Through engaging, hands-on exercises, you’ll plot courses, correct for current and leeway, and take bearings to pinpoint your exact position.
By the end of the class, you’ll navigate like a seasoned sailor—ready to plan your own adventures across Narragansett Bay or wherever the wind takes you.

How is ASA 105 class taught?

2 online evening class with your instructor via Zoom meeting and 2 days in class room with the same instructor.

May schedule: online sessions on May 12 and 18 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM, followed by in-person classes on May 25 and 26 in Barrington, RI.

June schedule: online sessions on June 8 and 16 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM, followed by in-person classes on June 22 and 23 in Barrington,RI.

July schedule: online sessions on July 7 and 13 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM, followed by in-person classes on July 20 and 21 in Barrington,RI.

August schedule: online sessions on August 3 and 11 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM, followed by in-person classes on August 17 and 18 in Barrington,RI.

September schedule: online sessions on August 25 and September 1 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM, followed by in-person classes on September 7 and 8 in Barrington,RI.
