Private Lessons
1:1 or small group instruction tailored to specific sailing skills (helming, tactics, sail trim)
What to Expect
These lessons maximize your learning, enabling the instructor to focus on what you want to learn and practice. Areas of focus (recommend selecting one skill set per session): helming the boat, tactics, sail tuning, spinnaker, picking up and leaving a mooring, racing rules and tactics, or man over board recovery for small keel boats. Lessons are two hours long, but longer or shorter lessons can be accommodated. There is a base rate fee, with an additional cost for each person you add to your private lessons. We can select the boat to sail based on the skill sets you want to work on.
J/22: The 22.5' J/22 is a responsive, stable, and safe small keelboat with a fixed lead keel. The boat appeals to all ages and skill levels. It has a mainsail and a jib, but can be sailed under mainsail only. Downwind we have the option to sail it under spinnaker with a pole system that is easy to trim. It holds 3-4 people comfortably, 5 if some are small.
J/7: The 23’ J/7 is a modern design daysailer with huge, sit-in cockpit, easy-to-handle sail plan, and built-in stability that’s second to none in the size range. This is the perfect sized
daysailer – roomy enough to bring the whole gang. Our J/7 has an asymmetrical kite which is easy to handle in a wide variety of conditions.
