What to Expect
Experience the magic of La Parguera Bioluminescent Bay, one of Puerto Rico’s most unique natural attractions.
This guided nighttime boat tour takes you across calm, protected waters to witness the natural glow created by microscopic organisms that illuminate the water when disturbed. Enjoy a comfortable and relaxing experience under the stars while learning about this fragile ecosystem.
Your experience takes place aboard a comfortable and stable 26-foot motorized catamaran operated by a U.S. Coast Guard-licensed captain. Caribbean Chiliboats is an authorized concessionaire of the Puerto Rico Department of Natural and Environmental Resources (DRNA).
This experience is offered as a public per-person small-group tour with a maximum of 6 participants. Guests may also reserve the entire vessel as a private Biobay charter, subject to availability. The small capacity provides a more comfortable and personalized experience while minimizing the impact on the protected environment.
Recommended for guests ages 5 and older. Children ages 1 to 4 may participate only when their parent or legal guardian provides a correctly sized, properly fitted, U.S. Coast Guard-approved infant life jacket. All children count toward the maximum capacity of 6 guests.
The brightness and visibility of the bioluminescence vary naturally depending on the moon phase, cloud cover, weather, tides, water movement, and other environmental factors. Bioluminescence is a natural phenomenon and cannot be guaranteed. Darker nights generally provide better viewing conditions.
Swimming or entering the water inside the Bioluminescent Bay is prohibited under current DRNA regulations, including Administrative Order 2023-02, to help protect this fragile ecosystem and preserve its bioluminescent organisms for future generations.
