Diver Stress & Rescue

The SSI Diver Stress & Rescue Specialty certification focuses on preventing, recognizing, and managing stress in diving situations—for both yourself and others. It builds on your existing dive skills by teaching you how to identify early signs of stress, avoid escalating problems, and respond effectively in emergency scenarios.

Throughout the course, you’ll practice key rescue techniques such as assisting tired or panicked divers, conducting safe ascents, managing emergency situations at the surface, and performing in-water rescues. You’ll also learn self-rescue strategies, accident prevention, and how to use emergency equipment.

Training includes academic sessions and realistic in-water scenarios that simulate common diving emergencies. By the end of the program, you’ll be more confident, aware, and prepared to handle challenging situations—making you a safer and more capable dive buddy.
