Deep Diving

The SSI Deep Diving Specialty certification prepares divers to safely explore depths beyond 18 meters (60 feet), up to a maximum of 40 meters (130 feet). The course focuses on the skills and knowledge needed to manage the increased risks associated with deeper diving, including gas consumption, nitrogen narcosis, and limited no-decompression time.

During the program, divers learn how to plan and conduct deep dives using proper procedures, monitor depth and time carefully, and use specialized equipment such as dive computers and backup systems. The training also emphasizes buoyancy control, ascent procedures, and safety stops to reduce the risk of decompression sickness.

Completed over a combination of academic sessions and open water dives, the SSI Deep Diving Specialty builds confidence and competence for exploring deeper dive sites, such as walls, wrecks, and drop-offs, while maintaining a strong focus on safety and awareness.
