About
The Thompson-Neely grist mill is a preserved and restored merchant mill from the 19th Century. It replaced an older Mill built in the 1740s. The original mill had to be replaced due to the construction of the nearby canal in the 1820s. In its heyday the Thompson-Neely Mill was one of many mills throughout the area that ground grain for manifold uses, both local and international. The Mill operated commercially from 1830 to approximately 1930.
As it currently stands the mill has been restored back to working order using much the same process that it had used through its commercial career. The Tour will cover the workings of the mill, the functions of its machinery and how the milling trade factored into life in Bucks county and the region throughout the 18th-and 19th century. Tours are ~1 hour long.
