• Monday - Thursday: $89.90/rider; Friday - Saturday: $99.90/rider
• Riders must be 8 years or older and not exceed 225 lbs. For riders above 225 lbs, please call 717-413-2660 to find out if rider can be accommodated.
• Date Night Trail Rides: $219.90 per couple, Monday - Friday, 5:30-6:30 p.m. Please call 717-413-2660 to book Date Night Trail Rides.

• This experience typically takes 60 minutes and includes a safety demonstration and time for mounting.

Enjoy a relaxing guided horseback ride through one of Lancaster County’s hidden treasures — the Ironstone Ranch at Stone Gables Estate. You and your horse will travel through shady forest trails and trek across open pastures. Trails may pass through the iconic Star Barn Village, ride over the original railroad bed where Abraham Lincoln’s funeral train and the Liberty Bell once traversed, or pass the fully restored Herr’s Mill Covered Bridge on your peaceful journey over 300 acres of forests and fields.
Trail experiences may not be the same every time due to Estate events.

General Rules, Rescheduling, and Cancellation

General Rules:
• While riding, we require all guests to wear closed-toed shoes. Boots and sneakers are fine. We do not permit flip-flops, sandals, or other open-toed shoes.
• We only walk our horses through the 300 acres of woods and farmland on the estate. For your own safety and the safety of the horses, we do not trot or gallop on the trails.
• Tips are appreciated by your trail guides.
• No experience is necessary. However, children must be 8 years or older.
• Helmets are required for anyone under 18 years old. Adults have the option to wear a helmet if they choose. We offer sizes: XS, S, M, L, and XL.
• Our maximum weight limit is 225 pounds. If a rider exceeds that weight, please call 717-413-2660 to see if they can be accommodated.
• If a rider has special needs, please call ahead of scheduling to be sure they can be accommodated.
• We suggest long pants for comfort and protection from bushes and thorns, however, shorts or capris are permitted.
• Because we also host other events at our venue, trail riding guests are requested to stay in the vicinity of The Hitching Post or restroom area and not walk around the property. There may be private events in progress.
• We still ride when there are spotty or light showers, come prepared with appropriate gear. However, if the rain is heavy, continuous, or stormy, we will call you to reschedule.
• Please note that the office is CLOSED ON SUNDAYS. Phone messages received on Sundays will be responded to on Mondays.
• It is a REQUIREMENT to arrive 20 minutes early. This will allow time for signing waivers, restroom breaks, etc. This also gives our trail guide time to start our demonstration.
• Water bottles and apparel (youth/S,M,L and adult/S-XXL) are available for purchase.

Rescheduling/Cancellation:

Please read our cancellation policy thoroughly.

Our trail rides are in high demand and fill quickly. Please read carefully and make cancellations or changes with as much notice as possible.

We require that you arrive 20 minutes BEFORE your scheduled time.

• To cancel or reschedule, please call 717-413-2660 and LEAVE A MESSAGE with your name, day and time of your ride. Please email [email protected] if you need to cancel or reschedule on a Sunday or after office hours (Mon.-Sat., 8:00 a.m.- 5:00 p.m.).
• Cancellations made 24 hours prior to your scheduled ride will receive a 100% refund.
• Cancellations made after 24 hours of your scheduled ride will not receive a refund.
• If a rider does not show up for their ride, they will not receive a refund.
• If a rider decides at the last minute not to ride, they will not receive a refund.
• If you arrive late and we are unable to wait for you, you will not receive a refund. We require a 20-minute early arrival to allow time to check in and to watch our demonstration.
• If you do not follow our rules or are disrespectful to the animals or guides, Stone Gables Estate may end your ride early and you will not receive a refund.
• Smoking on or near the horses is prohibited.
• If a rider appears unwell or unfit to ride, Stone Gables Estate may deny them their ride, and they will not receive a refund.

This may include the following:
• Appears to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol
• Is not dressed in appropriate attire or footwear for riding
• Has special needs that we were not made aware of and cannot safely accommodate
• Appears to not be within our weight limit

Please call if you are above the weight limit or have a rider with special needs to see if Stone Gables Estate can accommodate you.

In the case of intermittent weather that is unsafe for riding, Stone Gables Estate will contact you as soon as possible to cancel or reschedule your ride. If your ride needs to be cancelled, you will receive a 100% refund.

This may include the following:
• Thunder and lightning
• Heavy rain
• Wind gusts over 30mph
• Icy conditions
• Extreme high or low temperatures
