We cruise past Elk Rock Island, a 40-million-year-old volcanic remnant and sanctuary for peregrine falcons, before circling the Ross Island natural area. Along the way, we often spot bald eagles, osprey, blue herons, deer, otters, beavers, and turtles—and during salmon runs, even sea lions chasing their catch! The river reveals Oregon’s hidden wildlife in the heart of the city, while also offering glimpses of historic landmarks, Hollywood film sites, and even old movie props. A perfect way to experience the wild beauty of Portland by water.
Regardless of the direction of travel, and no matter where we go, the Willamette River is full of natural beauty and wildlife! Cruising in either direction you will see some of Oregon’s beautiful nature in the city, historical landmarks, famous movie locations, and even some old movie props.
