Tree Walk with Carrie Blair
2.5-hr | An in-depth exploration of the native plants and trees at Pearson's Falls & Glen
What to Expect
Carrie Blair didn't always notice plants, until a friend led her to a hillside covered in blooming trillium in the early 1990s. That single moment opened her eyes to the beauty and complexity of the natural world, and she's been paying close attention ever since.
In the decades since, Carrie has built a deep knowledge of trees and plants through field exploration, botanical societies, courses, conferences, international travel, and countless hours spent walking forests and natural areas. She's especially skilled at identifying trees, shrubs, vines, and flowering plants, including recognizing trees in winter by their bark, buds, and branching patterns.
Join Carrie for a Tree Walk through Pearson's Falls and Glen, where she'll help you see the Preserve's living landscape with new eyes. Along the trail, you'll discover the trees, shrubs, vines, and wild plants that make up this ecosystem, and learn what makes each one unique. You will leave with not just a new set of names, but a deeper appreciation - and sense of care - for the land itself.
