What to Expect

On the Hood Huggers International Walking Tour, knowledgeable local guides lead an immersive, three-hour exploration of Asheville’s African American history and cultural landmarks. Starting at Stephens‑Lee High School, the tour weaves through Eagle Street and downtown to the YMI Cultural Center and other important sites, sharing stories of Black entrepreneurs, educators, activists and community resilience. Guests will gain historical context and learn about contemporary preservation and revitalization efforts while engaging with thoughtful narratives and opportunities for questions.
