Duration

• 6-10 hours of eLearning coursework at home
• 7 Hours in the pool at the Brooklyn Sports Club

About

Start your underwater journey by mastering the academic side of scuba diving online. The comprehensive eLearning program allows you to absorb the material at your own pace, using interactive presentations and quizzes to ensure a thorough understanding of diving theory.

After the online component, you’ll apply your knowledge in real-world conditions under the watchful eye of an SDI instructor. The confined water sessions are all about getting comfortable with your dive gear and learning essential skills in a controlled environment, such as a swimming pool.

By the end of the course, you'll have the skills and knowledge to finish your dive certification at home with us, or abroad on one of our trips or with a partner resort to be an ambassador for the underwater world.

Step 1: Knowledge Development
This covers the principles, concepts and terms you need to know for dive safety and enjoyment. Scuba.com offers SDI eLearning for the Knowledge Development portion of the class, allowing our students to complete the academics at their own pace and in the comfort of their own homes.

Step 2: Confined Water Dives
During the Confined Water Dives, you learn and practice scuba skills in a pool. You’ll enjoy making one or more mini dives, which take you through the same steps you follow when you make open water dives.

Step 3: Referrals
After you complete the confined water training, every student receives a referral form from our seasoned Scuba instructor to complete your open water checkout dives & certification anywhere in the world. The referral is valid for one year after your pool session is completed.
