About
Embark on a voyage of discovery aboard the iconic sloop Clearwater! Our Sailing Classroom program offers an immersive educational experience where students delve into inquiry-based learning stations, investigating the vibrant life of the Hudson River. From conducting water quality tests to unraveling indigenous history, every moment is a chance to learn and grow. Join us in raising the sails, casting lines for fishing, and harmonizing with sea shanties—all while fostering teamwork and camaraderie.
Departure Points:
From North to South: Rensselaer, Coxsackie, Hudson, Catskill, Kingston, Poughkeepsie, Marlborough (Milton Landing), Beacon, Cold Spring, Ossining, Piermont, Alpine Boat Basin, Dyckman Marina, Brooklyn Bridge Park. Please select your slot with attention to the designated dock for the day's sailing.
Duration: 2.5 Hours
Can't make the listed times? Contact us to arrange a custom program lasting a minimum of 2 hours.
Cost:
Reservations are free, with the following discounted rates available:
- Title I Schools: $1095
- Public Schools (including Public Charter/Magnet and municipally-run summer camps): $1750
- Private Schools (including Private Charter/Magnet and summer camps): $1950
- Post-Secondary Schools: $2500
Transportation arrangements are the responsibility of the group.
Payment:
Full payment is required 6 weeks (30 business days) prior to your sail. Failure to comply will result in forfeiture of your reservation, excluding schools paying through BOCES.
Cancellation Policy:
- Full refund if canceled over 8 weeks before the sail date.
- 50% refund for cancellations made between 8 and 4 weeks before the sail.
- No refunds for cancellations within 4 weeks of the sail.
- This policy does not apply to schools paying through BOCES.

About:
Host your special occasion on the majestic Clearwater tall ship, accommodating up to 45 passengers. From weddings to corporate retreats, our charters offer a unique blend of maritime charm and scenic beauty. Join us for a journey filled with dockside orientation, hoisting sails, musical interludes, and moments of reflection.
Reservations are free to make, however a credit card is required to hold the spot. We will follow up with your reservation request via email with a contract to sign and return to us with a 10% non-refundable deposit. The signed contract and deposit are due 1 week after receipt or you will forfeit your reservation.
Duration: 2.5 - 3 Hours
Sailing Experience Highlights:
- Dockside Orientation: Prepare for your voyage with a comprehensive overview before setting sail.
- Hoisting the Sails: Engage in the maritime tradition as all hands join to raise the sails.
- Clearwater's Heritage: Learn about the rich history and mission behind the Clearwater vessel.
- Moments of Reflection: Pause for a moment of silence and contemplation amidst the beauty of the water.
- Musical Interludes: Enjoy live music by our talented crew, complete with sing-a-longs.
Essentials to Bring:
- Mask (Below Deck): For those venturing below deck, please remember to bring a mask.
- Reusable Water Bottles and Sunscreen: Stay hydrated and protected from the sun during your excursion.
- BYOB (21+): Guests aged 21 and above are welcome to bring their own beverages.
- Dress in Layers: Prepare for changing weather conditions by dressing in layers for comfort.
Behavioral Policy:
We kindly ask all passengers to respect the personal space and privacy of our Captain and Crew, who call Clearwater their home. Our top priority is the safety and well-being of all passengers and crew members. Please refrain from intrusive behavior and keep hands to yourself. For any queries regarding appropriate conduct, feel free to reach out to our On Board Program Coordinator.
Please note that Clearwater sails operate rain or shine. In the event of inclement weather, rescheduling may be challenging. We advise considering the possibility of rain when planning your event.

n- Full refunds are available for cancellations made more than 8 weeks prior to your sail date.
n- Cancellations made between 8 and 4 weeks before the scheduled sail date are eligible for a 50% refund.
n- Unfortunately, we are unable to provide refunds for cancellations made within 4 weeks of the sail date.
n- For bookings made within 4 weeks, all fees are non-refundable.
Exception for Schools Paying through BOCES:
n- Please note that this policy does not apply to schools paying through BOCES.
