What to Expect

This architect-led walking tour explores Midtown Manhattan through its interior architecture, focusing on publicly accessible spaces that define New York’s architectural and cultural identity.

Rather than viewing buildings only from the street, we experience architecture from the inside—moving through grand terminals, corporate lobbies, churches, hotels, and modern atriums that reveal how structure, materials, light, and circulation shape urban life.

The tour traces more than a century of architectural evolution, from Beaux-Arts and Art Deco to mid-century modernism, Postmodernism, and contemporary design. Along the way, we examine how interiors communicate power, prestige, spirituality, innovation, and corporate identity—and how these spaces continue to evolve in the 21st century.
