Art Under the Bridge: Outdoor Sketchbooking (September)

by Brooklyn Bridge Park· New York, NY

What to Expect

Do you like to sketchbook? Are you interested in starting? Join Brooklyn Bridge Park educators and other like-minded people in a sketchbooking meet-up. Each time, we will meet at a different location in the park to concentrate on different subjects and stretch our skills. Come to one event or come to all. It’s up to you. These are informal sessions with some instruction for those who are new to the practice as well as an open exchange of ideas, techniques, and materials.

This month we will be meeting at the northernmost pond on Pier 1 (Turtle Pond) where there are an abundance of summer flowers and grasses to draw, in addition to some wildlife. Meeting point will be on the lawn next to the pond.

We encourage you to bring your own, favorite sketching materials, but we will provide some for those who don’t have. This program is intended for adults, although older teens are welcome as well. Advanced registration is encouraged but not required. There will be 25 spots available on a first-come-first-served basis.

Accessibility: This workshop will take place on Pier 1, mostly on flat, grass-covered ground and on paved paths. Seating will be on cushions and a limited number of short stools. The closest bathrooms are at the Pavillion, just a few feet away. Please reach out to [email protected] for any accessibility needs or questions.
