Wild Oyster Survey and Shoreline Cleanup: Lemon Creek
Get to know the wild oysters of Staten Island at Lemon Creek!
What to Expect
Join Billion Oyster Project and NYC H2O at Princess Bay for a wild oyster survey and shoreline cleanup along the Lemon Creek shoreline. Wild oyster surveys are an opportunity to explore your local waterfront and build collective knowledge about where oysters live in NYC. Our Lemon Creek Wild Oyster Survey will also feature time for a shoreline cleanup.
Learn to count and measure wild oysters along the coast to help understand current conditions as Billion Oyster Project investigates the potential to restore oyster reef habitat offshore. Participants, ages 12+, will learn about how oysters grow, and get up close and personal with the local oyster population while collecting and recording data to be used in future Restoration reports.
