What to Expect

This Fall, enjoy a Historic flight experience in the American Airpower Museum’s Legendary WWII Douglas C-47 “Skytrain” Troop Transport! Our C-47 is still authentically configured inside and out as they were in 1944 when used to drop U.S Army, and British Airborne Paratroopers on their historic D-Day missions on June 5th, 1944 followed just months later once again for Operation Market Garden in September of 1944. The scenic ride program includes arrival, briefing, and a scenic flight around our local Long Island North and South Shore areas as air traffic allows. The scenic flight experience is approximately 15-20 minutes in duration in the air. The whole program from check in to flight completion is approximately 1hr in duration. This time of year is the added bonus of seeing the beautiful fall foliage from above from now through November.

Weather-

n

As caretakers of Warbird aircraft and our riders we take both the safety of the aircraft and the passengers as our priority. We do not fly in inclement weather, and always fly under Visual Flight Rules (VFR) conditions. Normally, we’ll try to postpone the flight until weather conditions improve.

n

Maintenance-

n

For us safety is paramount, and we take our maintenance as part of that culture. It is normally out of our control if something breaks, or we recognize a maintenance issue that requires attention. As a result we may need to delay, postpone, or cancel a flight until any maintenance issue resolved and can fix the problem.

n

Minimum Passenger Requirements-

n

As a 501C3 and caretaker of these national treasure warbirds we have to operate these aircraft economically as the costs of operation have become significant. If you are flying on the C-47 there is a minimum passenger requirement of 6. If we don't meet this requirement we will move you to another flight if possible. We hope you can work with us and understand if this issue arises.
