Soft Noses & Open Pastures

Step through the gate and into the pasture at Alps Mountain Farm, where a curious herd of alpacas is waiting to say hello. Soft Noses & Open Pastures is a small-group, founder-led encounter on our farm high on the Rensselaer Plateau — unhurried, hands-on, and built around real time with the animals.

Over your visit you'll learn what makes alpacas tick, how we care for the herd, and why their fiber is one of nature's most extraordinary materials — all while they nudge your pockets and blink at you with those impossibly long lashes. You'll have the chance to feed and brush the herd, snap plenty of photos, and hear the story of how a regenerative farm comes together, one soft nose at a time.

All ages are welcome, and any guest under 18 must be accompanied by an adult for the full visit. Groups are kept intentionally small so every guest gets a genuine moment with the alpacas. When your time in the pasture winds down, our farm store is open to send you home with a little wool and a lot of good memory.
