Spend a day getting to know the village of Glen Carbon. You’ll start with a visit to the 100-year-old brick school that now houses Heritage Museum and Old City Hall/Fire House. From there, you’ll explore vibrant exhibits and learn how the Madison Coal Corporation impacted the community with its company town approach to mining. After enjoying a catered lunch by Wooden Nickel Pub and Grill, you’ll experience the history and lingering wood smoke smells of Yanda Log Cabin, which served as home to a blacksmith family with 10 children. Delight in a guided driving tour of Glen Carbon including the site of the former Acme schoolhouse, Glen Carbon covered bridge, and doughboy statue. Before heading home, we’ll stop at Bobby’s Frozen Custard, home of the famous turtle sundae, to appreciate a refreshing treat. Tour includes a professional tour guide, motorcoach, all listed attractions, speakers, experiences, includes lunch and all gratuities to driver and guide. Meet motorcoach at the Meramec Campus (7:45 a.m.) on Lot E, or at the Florissant Campus (8:30 a.m.) at top of the circular driveway between Administration and Social Sciences Buildings.
