The ferry ride departs from downtown Cheboygan, just south of the State Street Drawbridge. Traveling north up the Cheboygan River, you can get views of the Coast Guard Cutter Mackinac, when in port. As you exit the Cheboygan River into the Straits of Mackinac, you pass the Cheboygan Crib Light. On a clear day, you also get views of the Fourteen-Foot Shoal and Poe Reef Lighthouses to the east. If you look west, you get a view of the Mackinac Bridge, connecting the upper and lower peninsulas of Michigan. The trip takes 45 minutes in total and arrives at the Bois Blanc Island Township Dock.
