April 19, 1775: A Revolution Begins Semi-Private Tour

Step back in time to April 19, 1775, and relive the events of the first day of the American Revolution. This tour takes you along Paul Revere's famous midnight ride and follows the British troops as they march into Lexington and Concord. The tour starts with a visit to the Old North Church, famous for the “one if by land, two if by sea” lanterns. Next, visit the Lexington Battle Green, the very site where the American Revolution began! Stand on the historic North Bridge, forever known as the place where "the shot heard 'round the world" was fired! See the actual lantern which was hung in the Old North Church and real artifacts collected in Concord during the Revolution.

Free time for lunch, souvenirs, and exploration in Concord.

Travel back to Boston along the Battle Road Trail, following the actual path of the British retreat from Concord. See many original buildings which were used as headquarters and field hospitals by the British. Stand on the bloodiest battlefield of the day. Visit Harvard Yard and see where George Washington lived and took command of the Continental Army. Conclude the tour with a visit to the Bunker Hill Memorial. Learn how two months after the war began at Lexington, one of the first major battles of the American Revolution would prove the fighting spirit of the colonists.
