Your private experience begins with an up-close visit to meet our friendly alpacas. Discover their unique personalities, learn how they're raised and cared for, and enjoy plenty of opportunities to interact with them and take memorable photos. Our alpacas love meeting visitors, and it's easy to see why so many guests leave with a smile.

After spending time with the herd, we'll take you inside Painted Sky Fiber Mill—the only full-service fiber mill in Maryland. Follow the fascinating journey of alpaca fleece as it travels through each stage of processing, from raw fleece to luxurious yarns, rovings, batts, and rug yarns. You'll get a behind-the-scenes look at the specialized equipment, learn how each machine transforms the fiber, and discover what makes alpaca fiber so exceptional.

Your tour concludes with a visit to our Gift Shop, where you'll find many of the beautiful products made from the very fibers you've just seen processed.

In the event of inclement weather, the alpaca portion of the tour will be held inside the barn so you can still enjoy meeting the herd in comfort.
