Registered Maine Guide Training
What to Expect
Becoming a Registered Maine Guide is not easy. The process is rigorous and detail oriented. If it weren't, the State of Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife would be putting many tourists from away and from our state, guests, sports, and families at risk. There are six specialties that require separate testing. Most Registered Maine Guides only test for one, and at most two. The specialties are: Hunting, Fishing, Recreation, Sea Kayaking, Tidewater Fishing and Whitewater Rafting. Whitewater Rafting can only be learned through an apprenticeship process. If you wish to become a RMG for the others, you would take this course. Fair warning, there is hard work ahead!
