What to Expect
Open to both beginners and developing sailors, this four-session course provides a deeper dive into sailing fundamentals to build and strengthen skills to become confident, independent sailors.
Over four sessions, participants build skills and understanding of sailing concepts through extensive practice in boat handling, sail trim, docking, maneuvering, safety procedures, navigation rules, and on-the-water decision-making in a variety of weather conditions. From learning the parts of the boat and proper rigging to reefing and emergency maneuvers, this course covers everything you need to go from your first time on the water to sailing confidently.
Whether you are brand new to sailing or looking to strengthen existing skills, this course provides the experience and preparation needed to for you to become a confident independent sailor!
The fee for this course is $450 per participant.
Your registration includes four sessions, each 3 hours long,* held over two consecutive weekends (Saturdays and Sundays).
Includes
Hands-on, on-the-water sailing instruction on Lake Pontchartrain
Shoreside lessons in line with U.S. Sailing Basic Keelboat, covering keelboat sailing fundamentals and safety
Use of all boats, sails, and required sailing equipment
A Personal Flotation Device (PFD) will be provided to all participants and must be worn on the boats at all times

Participants must be 18+ years of age.
