Old Louisville is home to hundreds of impressive Victorian mansions that trace back to wealthy families in the late 1800s and early 1900s. On this walking tour, uncover the eerie past of the neighborhood alongside a guide who regales you with ghostly tales and entertaining storytelling. Points of interest include Conrad's Castle, the Witches' Tree, gaslit St. James Court, the Pink Palace, and the infamous Murder House featured on true-crime shows such as the First 48 and Snapped!

What To Expect

On your own, head to the designated meeting location at the corner of South Fourth Street and West Ormsby Avenue in Old Louisville and plan on checking in several minutes before the starting time. (Don't panic if you don't see the guide right away, because sometimes they will be finishing the previous tour right before!) If you're driving, there is generally ample, free street parking.

Once everyone for the tour has arrived, follow your guide on a spooky adventure through Old Louisville, an amazing historic preservation district full of hundreds of mansions and grand residences from a bygone era. The earlier tours depart while it's still light out, but book a later tour if you want the added chill factor of darkness. In any case, you'll be accompanied by a confident guide who knows the neighborhood well.

Each guide is encouraged to add their personal touches to the storytelling experience, however, you can rest assured that you'll be treated to tales in front of beautiful landmarks such as Conrad's Castle, the Pink Palace, and the St. James Court Fountain as you stroll through secluded alleys and charming walking courts lit by real gas lamps. In addition, you'll hear the legend of the Witches' Tree and learn more about Old Louisville's infamous Murder House as your guide shares the details about paranormal activity associated with these places.

After your tour, your guide will drop you back at the corner where you met, and you're encouraged to enjoy a bite to eat or a drink at one of our local restaurants. If you need directions or help getting anywhere, your guide will be happy to assist.

  • Recommended by The New York Times, Louisville Historic Tours has specialized in guided walks through ""America's Most Haunted Neighborhood"" since 2004. Once home to bourbon barons, racetrack royalty, and titans of tobacco, the stories and scandals they left behind have inspired scores of ghost stories featured in books written by local bestselling author David Dominé. For this reason, our tours are one-of-a-kind and protected by US Copyright laws!
  • If you're in Old Louisville during the third weekend in October, make sure to check out our Victorian Ghost Walk®, the theatrical porch play version of this tour that only takes place three days out of every year. It is produced by a separate organization as a fundraiser for the South Fourth Street Association, and you must get tickets from them.
  • If you're into paranormal investigation and capturing photographic anomalies, you might want to check out the three-hour Paranormal Buff Supernatural Tour with Angelique most weekends at 8PM or the two-hour Old Louisville Paranormal Photography Tour with Jamie most nights at 7PM. Both of these tours include fun extras such as beer and cocktails.
  • Looking for experiences in other parts of town? Try our "Misfits and Mayhem" walking tour of the downtown area or the "NuLu Sites and Bites" foodie jaunt in the trendy East Market District!
