Sunday, October 4, 2:00 - 3:30 PM: Native Prairie Planting in Fall
- This presentation with experienced gardener Beth Heckmann introduces the benefits and basics of planting native prairie species in the fall to achieve a low maintenance spring garden. Attendees will learn why fall can be the perfect time to plant seeds, and why some seeds require a natural dormancy period to germinate.
- The session covers species selection, site preparation, and effective seeding techniques, along with tips for managing weeds and early growth. Participants will leave with practical knowledge to create resilient, pollinator-friendly prairie plantings that enhance soil health and local ecosystems.
Thursday, October 8, 6:00 – 7:00 PM: Competitive Gardening – Grow Big or Grow Home
- Ready to take your harvest to the next level? Join Reiman Gardens volunteer and seasoned home gardener Lonny Jepsen as he shares his tried and true methods for sourcing, spacing, growing, and cultivating extra large vegetable varieties.
