What to Expect

The Fraser Train is the Boone & Scenic Valley Railroad’s signature classic excursion. Departing from Boone, the train travels to the historic coal mining town of Fraser and back. Passengers enjoy panoramic views while crossing the 156′ tall Bass Point Creek High Bridge and the Des Moines River Bridge, offering an unforgettable ride through Iowa’s scenic Des Moines River Valley. The excursion is available in various seating classes, including Classic Coach, Climate Controlled, Open Air, and Caboose. Steam power operates on select Saturdays, while diesel is standard on other days.
