What to Expect
AIDA 3 Advanced Freediving Course
A three-day advanced course that builds on AIDA 2 with deeper theory, refined technique, safety, and supervised open-water training.
Duration and schedule
3 days.
- Day 1: 7:30 AM–2:00 PM
- Day 2: 7:30 AM–1:00 PM
- Day 3: 7:30 AM–1:00 PM
Meet near Duke Kahanamoku Lagoon in Waikiki. The exact order may change with ocean conditions and student progress.
Training
Students develop free fall, Frenzel equalization, training-table use, pressure-awareness, static and dynamic apnea, free immersion, constant weight, advanced buddy procedures, and rescue skills. Open-water training takes place at depths appropriate to each student, up to the course maximum of 30m / 100 ft.
Actual depth depends on safety, conditions, comfort, demonstrated ability, and individual progression. Reaching the maximum depth is not guaranteed.
Certification
Booking and attending the course does not guarantee certification. AIDA 3 certification is awarded only after all applicable theory, confined-water, open-water, safety, rescue, and performance requirements are successfully completed.
Prerequisites
- AIDA 2 certification or approved AIDA 2 crossover
- At least 18 years old, or 16–17 with parent or guardian consent
- Required swimming ability
- Speak and read English
What to bring
- Wetsuit
- Reef-safe sunscreen
- Water
- Yoga mat or towel
- Change of clothes
- Notepad
- Slippers or sandals
Arrange any wetsuit rental before the morning of the course. Fins, mask, snorkel, and weight belt are provided.
The course includes 1–2 professional underwater photos.

Cancellation Policy
Cancellations made at least seven full calendar days before the scheduled start time are eligible for a 50% refund. Cancellations made fewer than seven full calendar days before the scheduled start time are nonrefundable.
