What to Expect
AIDA 1 Beginner Freediving Course
A one-day introduction to freediving for people who want to learn the fundamentals in a calm, safety-focused environment.
Schedule
The course begins at 7:30 AM near Duke Kahanamoku Lagoon in Waikiki. The exact order of activities may change based on conditions and student progress.
What you will learn
The course includes theory and an appropriate confined-water session covering relaxation, breathing, static apnea, dynamic apnea, equalization fundamentals, recovery breathing, buddy procedures, safety supervision, and rescue fundamentals.
Prerequisites
- Be at least 18 years old, or 16–17 with parent or guardian consent
- Swim at least 100m nonstop
- Speak and read English
- Complete all required medical and liability paperwork
Certification
Booking and attending the course does not guarantee certification. AIDA 1 certification is awarded only after all applicable theory, water, safety, rescue, and performance requirements are successfully completed.

- Slippers or sandals
Arrange any wetsuit rental before the morning of the course. Confirmed course equipment is provided as described in your booking information.
The course includes 1–2 professional underwater photos.

Cancellation Policy
Cancellations made at least seven full calendar days before the scheduled start time are eligible for a 50% refund. Cancellations made fewer than seven full calendar days before the scheduled start time are nonrefundable.
